One day long ago, I was sitting at a bus stop, in front of a Sports Car dealership, contemplating my life’s situation -- my “crossroads” -- while starring at a Ferrari in the window. I don’t even remember the model.
An elderly man sat down next to me and started reading a manuscript he had been writing. It was called ‘The Law of Ferrari Attraction’ and it was only in outline form with some space for personal experiences to be written in.
He was just smiling for the entire time while he was reading his notes. I was so intrigued. I remember it like it was yesterday! I asked him, “Kind Sir? Why such a big grin on your face as you read?”
He calmly replied, “Son, I’ve just dropped off my Ferrari for an oil change at this dealership. As I did, I pulled these notes out of my glove compartment. I had read and actioned these notes 90 days before I got the Ferrari.”
“If you had been searching your whole life for a guide to make you happy and then found it, wouldn’t you be smiling?” He then asked me about my life and we talked a little about my problems - my “crossroads”.
Then he said, “Son, I’m 78. I’ve got cancer and they have given me a year to live. I can see you’re a good person by the way you speak and present yourself. I am going to give this guide to you because I am sure it will solve your problems… if you simply take Action and follow the Steps.”
His bus approached and as he got on he said, “I might never see you again son, so you better thank me now. I’ve just changed your life forever! Don’t be greedy, and do someone else the favour.” With that he jumped on the bus and was gone.
I looked sceptically at the cover and just shook my head. Little did I know, from that day forward, I would have the steps to change my life.
When the Student Is Ready
the Teacher Will Appear
I couldn’t put it down! I read it through in one sitting - which isn’t too hard to do. I got so engrossed that I missed my connector bus and went to the end of the line.
I sat there and continued to read until the next bus came around. Then, I went straight home to my work-desk where I began to add in notes and highlight key points from the workbook while it resonated in my head.
By the third reading, late that very same night, it was very clear to me that I hadn’t given the dying man anything like enough thanks for his life changing gift to me.
As the early hours of the morning approached, I had marked up the book and written detailed notes from the tangible steps he had left with me in his unpublished ‘Law of Ferrari Attraction’ - some 25 pages of loose notes.
